Congratulations go out to Lady Bobcat junior guard Abby Oliver on being named this week's A.I.I. Player of the Week!
Oliver earned the first Association of Independent Institutions Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the 2019-20 season, by connecting on 51 percent of her field goals, including 49 percent from behind the 3-point field goal area.
Abby is averaging 18.3 points per game, based upon three consecutive 20-plus scoring performances for the No. 3-ranked Bobcats. The Strafford, Mo., native has made 24 3-point field goals so far this season and ranks sixth nationally among NAIA Division II players in 3-pointers made.
The College of the Ozarks (6-1) has won six consecutive games after having a season-opening loss to No. 2 Southeastern University (Fla.). That winning streak features victories against longtime rival Evangel University (Mo.), NAIA Division I No. 20 Lyon College (Ark.), NAIA Division II No. 12 Sterling College (Kan.) and No. 18 Tabor College (Kan.), along with two teams receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 national poll, Bellevue University (Neb.) and Bethany College (Kan.).
