Bobcats Drop Nail Biter to William Woods

Point Lookout, MO - The College of the Ozarks Bobcats took on William Woods University (MO) on Wednesday, at Keeter Gymnasium. The regular-season matchup kept fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish, as the Bobcats delivered a strong performance and fought hard until the final buzzer. Despite their determined effort and fast start, the Bobcats narrowly fell to William Woods, 76-74.

William Woods opened the game with an early jumper from Oshae Barquet, but the Bobcats quickly took control. DJ Quarles and Garrett Snyder led the charge with sharp shooting from beyond the arc, while Jay Baxter’s clutch free throws helped extend the lead. The Bobcats closed the first half in commanding fashion, up 47-29.

In the second half, William Woods mounted a strong comeback led by Mark Onyejekwe and Isaiah Payne, who hit key three-pointers to narrow the gap. Despite Jay Baxter’s strong defensive presence and multiple blocks that helped the Bobcats hold their lead deep into the half, William Woods surged ahead late. A clutch jumper from Onyejekwe in the final moments sealed the 76-74 win for the Owls.

Top performers for the Bobcats were DJ Quarles with 18 points, Garrett Snyder with 13 points and key steals, and Andrew Dalton, who added 10 points and led the team in assists. On defense, Themba Tshuma stood out with 8 rebounds. The Bobcats now sit at 1-2 for the season.

Looking ahead, the College of the Ozarks Bobcats will take on Oklahoma Panhandle State University in their first conference matchup of the season on November 20 at Point Lookout, MO.
