Lady Cats Sweep Back-To-Back Conference Matches

POINT_LOOKOUT, Mo. - College of the Ozarks swept Central Christian College 3-0 on Thursday at Keeter Gym, winning 25-9, 25-11 and 25-15. Anna Brunner led the Lady Cats with 11 kills as they improved to 5-4 in conference play.

The Lady Cats opened with their most efficient attacking set, recording 14 kills without an error on 20 attempts for a .700 hitting percentage. Two service aces and one team block complemented the offense in the 25-9 victory. They followed with 16 kills against two attack errors, hitting .412 in the second set while adding two more aces and another team block to take a 2-0 match lead.

Four service aces helped the Lady Cats finish the sweep in the third set. They added 16 kills and hit .250 in the 25-15 win, while Central Christian managed two kills against three attack errors. For the match, the Lady Cats totaled 46 kills and hit .411, compared with 12 kills and a .043 hitting percentage for Central Christian.

Brunner hit .625 with just one attack error on 16 attempts. Brinley Watson and Sophie Morris supplied nine kills apiece, with Watson hitting .533 and adding five digs. Kalli Noell contributed six kills without an error on nine attempts for a .667 mark. Addi Thurber also finished without an attack error, recording four kills on seven swings in one set.

Audrey Riley distributed a team-high 15 assists and added five digs. Kamryn Link supplied 13 assists, a team-best six digs and kills on both of her attack attempts across two sets. Jayden Gribble contributed six assists in one set as the Lady Cats finished with 39 assists.

Addison Hammond accounted for five of the team's eight service aces. Anna Howe added two aces and five digs, while Faith Klindworth served the remaining ace. Emma Godwin contributed five digs to the team's total of 39. Brunner, Morris, Noell and McKenna McClure each recorded a block assist, giving the Lady Cats two team blocks.

The Lady Cats repeated their performance on Friday as they swept Langston University 3-0 at Keeter Gym, winning 25-21, 25-21, 25-15. Audrey Riley led the Lady Cats with 11 kills as their attack improved in each set, finishing with 42 kills and a .269 hitting percentage.

The Lady Cats won the opening set despite seven attack errors and a .114 hitting percentage. They supplemented their 11 kills with three service aces and two team blocks, securing a four-point victory while Langston also recorded 11 kills. Those two blocks accounted for the Lady Cats’ entire match total.

The offense became more efficient in the second set, producing 16 kills with four errors on 37 attempts for a .324 hitting percentage. Another 25-21 win put the Lady Cats ahead two sets to none. They finished the sweep with their sharpest attacking set, recording 15 kills against just two errors on 36 attempts to hit .361. Two aces helped complete the 25-15 third-set victory.

Riley contributed beyond her team-leading kill total, adding 11 assists, seven digs, an ace and a block assist while hitting .276. Cora Rutledge supplied eight kills on .389 hitting, and McKenna McClure added seven kills with a .375 mark. Rutledge and McClure each committed only one attack error, giving the Lady Cats efficient options alongside Riley.

Kamryn Link directed the offense with 15 assists and contributed nine digs, three kills and three of the team’s six aces. Emma Godwin anchored the back-row defense with 15 digs as the Lady Cats finished with 51 to Langston’s 44. Anna Howe added nine digs and two aces, while Faith Klindworth recorded seven digs and five assists.

Brinley Watson added six kills, Kalli Noell had four, and Anna Brunner finished with three. Noell and Brunner each recorded a block assist, joining Riley and Rutledge in the blocking effort. Langston finished with 33 kills and hit .179, led by Ayanna Moore’s 10 kills and Teia Woodson’s eight.

The victory moved the Lady Cats to 7-4 in SAC conference play. The Lady Cats will host John Brown University at home on Tuesday, October 6th at 6:00 p.m.er 6th at 6:00 p.m.
