Point Lookout, MO - College of the Ozarks relied on strong defensive pressure and a late surge to pull away from Texas Wesleyan, earning a 76–51 home win Monday night in Point Lookout, Missouri. The Lady Cats controlled the game from start to finish and put it out of reach with a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring the Rams in every period.
Logan Jones led the Lady Cats with 23 points, knocking down three 3-pointers and delivering a key basket in the fourth quarter. Her 3-pointer with 4:51 remaining extended the lead to 69–40 and highlighted a 23–13 advantage for the Lady Cats in the final 10 minutes. Ashlen Garrett added 19 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, providing steady production on both ends of the floor.
College of the Ozarks set the tone early, taking a 15–8 lead after the first quarter. Jones connected on an early 3-pointer to help establish a 5–3 advantage, and the Lady Cats continued to build momentum in the second quarter. Garrett’s 3-pointer at the 4:46 mark made it 24–13, and College of the Ozarks carried a 29–21 lead into halftime while holding Texas Wesleyan to 25.4 percent shooting for the game.
Texas Wesleyan made its strongest push in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 38–32 on a 3-pointer by Peyton Foster with 5:15 left. The Lady Cats responded quickly, regaining control through ball movement and perimeter shooting. Zoe Hinze hit a 3-pointer at the 3:15 mark to stretch the lead back to 45–36, and College of the Ozarks closed the quarter on a run to take a 53–38 advantage into the fourth.
The fourth quarter belonged to the Lady Cats. College of the Ozarks capitalized on foul trouble for Texas Wesleyan, including a technical foul assessed to the Rams’ bench with 9:49 remaining that led to free throws and an extended possession. From there, the Lady Cats continued to attack, shooting 90.0 percent from the free-throw line (18 of 20) and steadily increasing the margin.
For the game, College of the Ozarks shot 39.7 percent from the field (25 of 63) and 32.0 percent from beyond the arc (8 of 25), while holding a 39–30 rebounding advantage. The Lady Cats also recorded 16 assists and limited second-chance opportunities with 29 defensive rebounds. Texas Wesleyan was led by Nala Richardson with 13 points and three steals, while Kameryn Phillips added 12 points and six rebounds. Foster finished with nine points, including three 3-pointers.
The win reflected a complete four-quarter performance from the Lady Cats which extended its lead steadily with scoring margins of 15–8, 14–13, 24–17, and 23–13.
