#32 Jay Baxter
Point Lookout, MO - On Thursday, the College of the Ozarks Bobcats took on the Science and Arts Drovers in an important Sooner Athletic Conference game at Keeter Gym. The Bobcats came out on top, winning 90–83 after a strong second-half performance.
The game started fast, with Science and Arts getting on the board first thanks to a jumper from Bryce Cowns. The Bobcats quickly answered. Andrew Dalton knocked down a big three, and Tyler Moore followed with another, set up by Reece Johnson. This run helped the Bobcats build a 9-point lead midway through the first half. A steal and layup by DJ Quarles added to their momentum, and the Bobcats went into halftime up 42–36.
In the second half, the Bobcats turned up the pressure. Jay Baxter—who finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds—set the tone with a three-pointer to start the period. Strong defensive plays by Baxter and Themba Tshuma helped the Bobcats hold their lead, and Jaiden Wilson’s clutch free throws kept them in control. At one point, the Bobcats stretched their lead to 19 points but had to hold off a strong effort by the Drovers to close out the game with a 90–83 win.
Overall, the standout players were Jay Baxter, who scored 20 points, and DJ Quarles, who added 14 points and led the team in steals. Strong defense and sharp three-point shooting made the difference in the win. The Bobcats will try to keep their momentum going in their next game against MACU on Saturday, at Keeter Gym.
