Siloam Springs, AR - In a Sooner Athletic Conference matchup on Tuesday, the College of the Ozarks Lady Cats earned a 61–49 win over John Brown (Ark.) in Siloam Springs, Ark.
Keara Mattingley opened the scoring with free throws to give the Lady Cats an early start. Ashlen Garrett and Logan Jones provided steady scoring throughout the first quarter, helping the team build an 18–10 lead. Mattingley’s layup late in the period helped extend the advantage.
In the second quarter, Allyssa Joyner and Ashlen Garrett kept the offense moving. Joyner led the team in scoring at halftime with 13 points, along with Garrett. The Lady Cats went into the break with a narrow 30–27 lead.
College of the Ozarks increased its lead in the third quarter behind strong defense and steady scoring from Ashlen Garrett, along with solid contributions from the bench. The Lady Cats ended the period ahead, 46–41.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Cats raised their defensive effort, and John Brown struggled to score. Key plays by Ashlen Garrett helped College of the Ozarks hold its lead and secure a 61–49 win.
Next, the Lady Cats will travel to Bethany, Oklahoma, to face Southwestern Christian on December 4.. They enter the matchup with a 5–3 record and look to build on their recent performance in Siloam Springs.
