Bobcats Drop Close Game to Southwestern Christian

Bethany, OK - On Thursday, in Bethany, OK, the College of the Ozarks Bobcats faced Southwestern Christian University in a conference matchup, falling 66–63 in a a tight battle.

The Bobcats opened the game with a basket from Jay Baxter, who finished with 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Southwestern Christian responded quickly, led by early scoring from Jalen Goar, and used a sustained run to take a 28–19 lead at the end of the first half

In the second half, the Bobcats benefited from key defensive plays by Themba Tshuma and Baxter, but the team was unable to significantly cut into the Eagles’ advantage. Southwestern Christian extended its lead to as many as 14 points before the Bobcats made a late push. Strong offensive efforts from DJ Quarles and Garrett Snyder helped narrow the deficit, bringing the game to 54–52 late in the half. The Cats battled down the stretch and gave themselves a chance at the end, but as time expired, the Eagles escaped with a 66-63 win.

Quarles, Snyder—who also contributed two assists—and Baxter were among the leading performers for the Bobcats, combining consistent scoring with reliable defensive play. Southwestern Christian secured the win with effective inside presence from Brody Smith and timely perimeter shooting from Goar.

The Bobcats will look to regroup as they prepare for their next contest against Oklahoma City University on Saturday.
