Bethany, OK - The College of the Ozarks Lady Cats fell to Southwestern Christian University in a competitive Sooner Athletic Conference matchup on Thursday in Bethany, OK. The final score was 70–59 in favor of Southwestern Christian.
The Lady Cats opened the first period with strong momentum, highlighted by an early three-pointer from Allyssa Joyner that helped establish a four-point lead. The Lady Cats maintained steady defense and ball movement to close the period ahead, 17–13. Southwestern Christian responded in the second period with an effective defensive stand, using blocks and steals to shift the momentum. The cold shooting of the Lady Cats led to a a 41–26 deficit at halftime.
In the third period, the Lady Cats continued to battle, with key field goals from Keara Mattingley and several defensive steals helping to keep the game within reach. However, SCU continued to apply pressure and the Lady Cats entered the fourth period trailing 55–39. Logan Jones provided a spark late in the game, scoring multiple three-pointers on her way to a team-high 17 points and adding three assists.
One highlight for the Lady Cats came early in the contest as Logan Jones scored her eighth point of the night. Her free throw put her into the elite class of the Lady Cat Basketball 1000 Point Club.
College of the Ozarks will return to action on Saturday, when they travel to face Oklahoma City University. The Lady Cats enter the matchup with a 4–4 overall record and a 2–2 mark in SAC play.
