The men’s and women’s golf teams for College of the Ozarks opened the spring season in solid fashion at the Evangel University Spring Invitational at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield on Monday and Tuesday.
The opening round on Monday was a cold and wet day. Day two proved to be better weather, but was still on the cool side, particularly early. For the ladies, the course played 5,885 yards and an individual score of 72 was par. For the men, the course was also par 72 and played 7,066 yards off the championship tees.
As a team, the Lady Bobcats ended the day shooting 393 (+105), ahead of the second place team by 27 strokes. On day two, the Lady Bobcats were even more dominant, leading the second place team by 41 strokes, shooting a team score of 377 (+89). In all, the College of the Ozarks women’s team won the event by a total of 68 strokes, shooting a combine two-day total of 770 (+194).
Lady Bobcat Katelyn Swope finished in first place individually, with a two-day total of 185 (+41). Teammate Hannah Aherin finished in second place just three strokes behind at 188 (+44). Ashley Stanphill finished in 8th place with a 197 (+53) and Kate Voss rounded out the top 10 at an even 200 (+56).

The men finished in 5th place out of seven teams. On day one, the men shot a 339 (+51) and followed that up on day two with a score of 337 (+49), for a two-day total of 676 (+100). The men missed finishing in the top three by just 19 strokes.
Connor Herzberg led the way for the Bobcats, finishing tied for 14th place individually. Connor shot a two-day total of 161 (+17) including a team best 79 (+7) on day two. Teammate Marcos Devoto finished just inside the top 25 at 24th place with a two-day total of 170 (+26).
