Despite a slow start shooting on Saturday, College of the Ozarks women’s basketball defeated Cottey College, 89-62.
To start the game, the Lady Bobcats struggled from the field, shooting just 5 for 18 (27.8%) in the first quarter and 11 for 38 (28.9%) for the first half. The unusually poor shooting for C of O helped Cottey jump out to a double-digit lead midway through the first quarter, 13-3.
In the second quarter, C of O began to put together a run. Freshman Kayley Frank hit a pair of free throws, followed by a two-point basket on the next possession to get the Lady Cats going. The buckets started a 14-2 run. Ashley Forrest would nail a two-point basket, part of her 13 points in the game, to help the Lady Cats regain the lead, 23-22. From the that point forward, the Lady Cats would ratchet up their defense and never trail again.
After halftime, the Lady Bobcats' defensive pressure would give Cottey fits. C of O would force 14 second half turnovers, for a total of 25 in the game. By the end of the third, the pressure would result in a 63-47 College of the Ozarks lead. In the fourth quarter, C of O would extend their lead to as many as 30, ultimately winning the game 89-62. The Lady Bobcat shooting in the second half was much better, at 19 for 36 (52.8%) including 9 for 16 (56.3%) from downtown.
C of O finished with three players scoring in double-figures. Julie Stone led the team in points with 16, while dishing out four assists. Jordan Wersinger and Ashley Forrest each scored 13 points. Forrest added five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Kayley Frank led the team in rebounding with six boards, to go along with eight points.

With the win, the Lady Bobcats finish the regular season with an outstanding record of 26-4.
