#2 -- Treydon Rackley

College of the Ozarks men’s basketball defeated Lincoln Christian University (Ill.) to open the C of O Classic on Friday, 88-58.  With the win, C of O improved their season record to 16-11.

To start the game, Treydon Rackley picked up a full head of steam in transition to slash across the lane and finish at the hoop to score the opening basket.  The basket would be the beginning of a 15-2 run for the Bobcats which forced an LCU timeout.

At the 11-minute mark, LCU would score back-to-back baskets, which would be their only momentum of the half.  Part solid C of O defense, part ice-cold streak, led to a measly 6 for 32 (18.8%) from the field and 2 for 14 (14.3%) from three-point land for Lincoln Christian in the first half.  While the Bobcats had similar struggles from distance, they did damage from two-point range to the tune of 17 for 30 (56.7%).  College of the Ozarks also controlled the boards 23-13, fortifying a 41-16 lead at the half.

In the second half, Lincoln Christian began to heat up from the outside.  The Red Lions shot 10 for 22 (45.5%) from distance, enabling them to cut the C of O lead to as few as 14 at the eight-minute mark.  After a timeout, Andrew Mitchell would answer with back-to-back three-pointers to get the Bobcats back on track.

With five minutes remaining, Treydon Rackley jumped the passing lane for a steal, and weaved back and forth avoiding the Red Lion defender for a coast-to-coast layup.  On the next possession, Trey Gibson would put back an offensive board, part of his nine-point performance, to push the lead back to 24.  Everyone on the team would log some time and the bench would expand the lead to its final resting spot at 30 points, 88-58.

For the game, C of O found a big advantage controlling boards throughout, 49-30.  The Bobcats shot 34 for 65 (52.3%) on the evening, while holding LCU to 21 for 68 (30.9%).

Five Bobcats scored in double-figures.  Treydon Rackley and Brandt Cochran each scored a team high 15 points.  Ayden Stone scored 14 points and snatched a game high 10 rebounds.  Andrew Mitchell added 12 points to go along with five rebounds.  Trent McBride chipped in 10 points and grabbed eight boards.
