The Lady Cats will head to Lincoln, Illinois this weekend to continue A.I.I. Conference play in the Lincoln Christian University hosts the LCU MLK Classic.
The Lady Cats will tip off against host LCU at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening and at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday vs. Holy Family College (formerly Silver Lake).
The LCU women’s team has struggled this season, posting a 2-12 record to date. The Red Lions are led by junior Mikayla Smith. The 5’6 guard currently leads her team in points (14.42/gm), assists (5.25/gm), steals (1.92/gm), and blocks (.33/gm). Audrey Henningsen, also a junior guard, leads the Red Lions with 6.83 rebounds per game. LCU currently is averaging 53.3 points per game.
Holy Family College (Wisc.) has experienced a tough start as well. With a record of 3-15, the Lakers are averaging 53 points per game. Holy Family is led by junior point guard Kaitlyn Roycroft with 13.28 points and 1.94 steals per game, senior forward Tasha Rabe with 5.5 rebounds and .71 blocks per game, and freshman MiKayla Riemer with 2.67 assists per game.
The Lady Cats head into the weekend with a 14-3 record and are averaging 71.7 points per game. As a team, they are shooting 42.1% from the field and 39.5% from three-point range. The Lady Cats are currently 4-0 in A.I.I. play. C of O stat leaders feature: Abby Oliver scoring 15.9 points (shooting 46.4%), Annie Noah hauling down 6.35 rebounds, Aleksei Smith dishing 2.0 assists, Harper Little nabbing .88 steals, and Michelle Gabani with .54 blocks per game. Also of note, senior Ashley Forrest has had a hot shot of late, averaging 17 points per game (19-35, 54.3% FG, and 16-31, 51.6% 3-pt. FG) over the last four games.
