Bobcats Head to Lincoln Christian Classic

This weekend the Bobcats are slated to play in the Lincoln Christian University MLK Classic in Lincoln, Ill. as they head into the portion of their season dedicated primarily to A.I.I. Conference play.


The Bobcats will tip off against host LCU at 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening and follow up with a 1:00 p.m. game on Saturday against Holy Family College (Wisc.). 


The Red Lions of Lincoln College have been challenged in the opening portion of their season, compiling a 3-13 record to date.  As a team, they have averaged 73.6 points per game.  The Red Lions are shooting 42.9% from the field and 33.6% from beyond the arc.  Stat leaders feature G. Aeilts (13.69 ppg), K. Wolters (4.31 reb/gm and .38 blk/gm), and L. Harris (4.31 asst/gm and 3.63 stl/gm).


Holy Family College comes into the weekend with a 9-10 record and a five-game winning streak.  This weekend will be their first opportunity to compete against their A.I.I. opponents.  The Lakers are averaging 76.7 points per game and have allowed 77.4 by their opponents.  Overall, the Lakers are shooting 42.3% from the field and 34.9% from three-point land.  Junior guard DeLoran Oliver leads the Lakers’ stat charts in points (14), rebounds (7.84), and blocks (1.0) per game.  Junior forward Bryanth Farr at 6’6 has collected an average of 7.84 rebounds per game, and senior guard Byron Dean, Jr. is handing off 3.29 assists per game.


The Bobcats enter the competition with a record of 9-8, picking up four victories in their last five games.  C of O is currently 4-1 in conference play, having split with University of the Virgin Islands last week and earlier defeating Northern New Mexico, Wilberforce, and Haskell.   The Cats have averaged 80.41 points per game this season, shooting 45.8% from the field and 37.1 from beyond the arc.  Brandt Cochran leads the Bobcats in scoring with 19.24 points per game and is averaging a team-leading 4.94 assists per game.  Ayden Stone has hauled down 8.65 rebounds per game, and Treydon Rackley leads the team in steals (1.24/gm) and blocks (.29/gm).
