College of the Ozarks hosted their first collegiate golf tournament this week, which featured eight men’s and seven women’s teams. The event was held at the beautiful Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course in Hollister, Mo. The par 71 course presented many challenges but also provided spectacular views of the Ozarks area, along with live buffalo roaming along the outer edges (OB) of the course. The men played the Buffalo (black) tees with a yardage of 7,036 and the women played the silver tees at 5,881 yards.
Both C of O teams struggled to post highly competitive rounds, with the Bobcats finishing sixth of eight teams and the Lady Bobcats fifth of seven. Full results are available on the "schedule" page of the website.
Caleb Davis led the Bobcats, completing his two rounds in a tie for 12th place out of 47 golfers, recording rounds of 79/77. Davis also led the field alongside two others in Par 5 scoring, shooting two-under for the two rounds. Stuart Jacobs followed with a 27th place finish, shooting 81/88.
Lady Cat Bianca Cunningham posted rounds of 87/84 to lead the team, finishing in a tie for 10th place overall. Kate Voss tied for 20th opening with a round of 92 and improving on Day 2 with an 87.
The men will be on hiatus until the season opens up again in the spring. The women, however, will be heading out early Saturday morning to play in the NCCAA Women’s Golf National Championship. The event will take place at Hammock Beach Resort’s Ocean Course in Palm Coast, Fla. The ladies will play a practice round on Sunday, followed by three rounds of play over a three-day period. Best wishes to our Lady Cats for a great week of golf!
