College of the Ozarks Bobcat and Lady Bobcat golf teams teed off early Tuesday morning in Day Two of the Evangel Invitational at Rivercut Golf Course. The course was in great condition, while the weather continued hot and humid with a slight breeze and a great deal of sunshine.
Lady Cat newcomers, Bianca Cunningham and Katelyn Swope, continued to play solid golf, both posting scores of 78 on Tuesday, to capture a tie for fourth place and sole sixth place respectively. Their fine play, along with an 85/90 by Kate Voss (16th), placed the C of O women in third place out of seven teams in the tournament. Cunningham sank four birdies, recorded 18 pars, and was +4 in Par 5 scoring for the tourney. Swope also tallied four birdies and 18 pars, while going +1 in Par 3 scoring. Voss was +2 for the tournament in Par 3 scoring.
The Bobcats struggled as a team, but Caleb Davis carded a pair of rounds at 76 to tie for sixth place overall. Stuart Jacobs also played well in the two-day event, finishing 11th overall, as he posted two rounds of 77. Davis drained five birdies and 22 pars over the two-day stretch, going +3 in Par 4 scoring. Jacobs sank four birdies of his own, alongside 20 pars, and was an impressive -1 in Par 5 scoring for the tournament. Freshman Connor Herzberg, along with Davis, played the Par 5’s at +2.
The two teams will return to action next week as they head to the Crossroads of America Invitational in Wentzville, Mo. for play on Monday and Tuesday.
