College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats added two more wins to their season by defeating Friends University and Tabor College Saturday afternoon. CofO defeated Friends in four sets, 25-15, 25-14, 16-25, and 25-16. Following the win, CofO picked up another, defeating Tabor in four sets, 25-15, 19-25, 25-17, and 25-17.
During the first game of the afternoon against Friends University, the Bobcats were led by Shay Helsel, who picked up 29 digs, and Rielly Dobbs dishing out 48 assists. Kayli Grant added 15 kills and 2 blocks, while Alex Spears led in kills with 17, and McKenna Miller added 3 aces on the afternoon. As a team, the Lady Bobcats tallied 64 total kills with a hitting percentage of .293 and 6 aces. The Falcons could not keep up offensively, recording 40 kills with a hitting percentage of .183.
Following their defeat of the Falcons, the Bobcats faced off against Tabor College for the second time this season. As a whole, the Lady Bobcats recorded 45 kills with a percentage of .276, 52 digs, and 7 aces, as they out-blocked the Bluejays 9 to 3. Stat leaders for the match featured: Grant (16 kills, .500 hitting percentage), Dobbs (30 assists), and Helsel (22 digs). Adding to the offense, Spears tallied 11 kills and 8 digs.
On Monday, the Lady Bobcats will travel to William Woods to close out their stretch of away games. College of the Ozarks will host the Chick-fil-A tournament on September 21st (games at 3, 5, & 7 p.m.) and September 22nd (games at 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.).
The Lady Bobcats’ record now stands at 14-4.
