The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) have announced  this season’s track and field student athletes who have received the  2019 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and NCCAA Scholar Athlete awards.

College of the Ozarks is proud to recognize three Track & Field team members who are receiving the 2019 award—Madison Bagg, Miles Mrowiec, and Sam Scaggs.

In order to be nominated by an institution and receive this honor, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for NAIA and a 3.4 on a 4.0 scale for NCCAA, as well as having achieved a junior academic status.

“We are very proud of these student-athletes,” stated Athletic Director Steve Shepherd.  “While it is always a challenge for student-athletes to invest well in their studies during their season of competition, it is especially so for College of the Ozarks’ athletes.  In addition to balancing the rigors of the classroom while practicing, competing, and traveling for their sport, all of our student-athletes work 15 hours per week at an on-campus work assignment to cover the cost of their tuition.”

Congratulations to Madison, Miles, and Sam on their hard work and dedication!
