College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcat volleyball team will take the court tonight to open their 2018 season. The Lady Bobcats will play a five-set scrimmage at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar beginning at 5:00 PM. Due to NAIA rules related to scrimmages, no scores or stats will be reported.
The Lady Bobcats are coming off an exceptional 30-7 season in 2017, where they captured the A.I.I. Conference Championship for their second consecutive year, and qualified to compete in the NAIA National Championship opening round.
Four new freshmen have been welcomed to their lineup, featuring multiple All-Conference, All-District, and a couple of All-State awardees. McKenna Miller, a 5’8” setter, hails from Logan-Rogersville; Megan Caulfield of Galena is a 6’1” middle hitter/right side; Kennedy Atkinson is a 5’10” outside hitter from Willard; and Wendy Smith, also an outside hitter, stands 5’9” and comes from Eminence. The Lady Bobcats will open their home season next week with the Silver Dollar City Tournament, in which six teams will compete. Thursday, August 23, will feature games at 3, 5, and 7 p.m.; Friday, August 24, matches will be played at 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Lady Bobcats will face Hannibal LaGrange University on Thursday at 5 p.m. and Culver-Stockton College at 7 p.m. that same evening. On Friday, CofO will take on SAGU at 11 a.m. and Evangel University at 1 p.m.
