College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcat volleyball picked up two wins on Saturday morning, following Friday evening’s win against Oklahoma Wesleyan University, to go undefeated (3-0) in the Chick-fil-A Classic in Point Lookout, Mo.
An early 9 a.m. game found the Lady Bobcats starting slowly against Tabor College, where they allowed the Bluejays to take set one, 23-25. CofO came back with three consecutive wins, posting scores of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-23, to take the match. Leading the stat charts for CofO were Alex Spears with 15 kills, Kaylee Larimer and Kayli Grant blocking 5 shots apiece, Rielly Dobbs handing off 42 assists, and Haley Stallings collecting 31 digs.
Match two immediately followed, and the Lady Cats were warmed up to defeat University of Saint Mary in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-23, and 25-13. The Lady Bobcats posted an improved hitting percentage of .260 compared to Saint Mary’s at .142. Stat leaders for the Lady Bobcats featured: Grant (13 kills, 3 blocks), Dobbs (35 assists), and Stallings (23 digs).
Spears recorded two double-doubles for the day, following up on a similar performance Friday evening. Against Tabor College, Spears had 15 kills and 14 digs. In the Lady Cats’ match versus Saint Mary, she tallied 12 kills and 13 digs. Also in the spotlight for the weekend was Kayli Grant. In Saturday’s two matches, she boasted a hitting percentage of .449, with 26 kills and 4 errors in 49 attempts.
The Lady Bobcats’ record now stands at 17-5 on the season. CofO will head out on the road to Arkansas this Tuesday to face Central Baptist College. They will then return home for a little break in the action before taking their home court on October 3rd at 6:00 p.m. versus Benedictine College (Kan.).
