Lady Cats pounce quickly on the Lady Eagles of Northern New Mexico Feb 01, 2019 Lady Cats dominant on the road College of the Ozarks traveled to Espanola, New Mexico, to face Northern New Mexico Lady Eagles for two games on consecutive days. Friday night, C of O jumped out to an 18-2 first quarter lead and never looked back. The Lady Cats outscored the Lady Eagles 21-15 in the second quarter, for a commanding 39-17 halftime lead. Cassidy Johnson scored 13 first half points and Abby Oliver added 12. The Lady Cats shot 40% from the field and 35% from the three-point line, while NNM managed just 24% and 14% respectively. The Lady Cats also held a 19-17 rebounding advantage and forced ten first half turnovers. C of O had just five turnovers. Despite NNM managing to raise their field goal percentage to 30% for the second half, C of O came out even sharper shooting 56% from the field and 47% from three. The Lady Cats doubled-up the Lady Eagles scoring 50-25 for the second half. C of O stretched their rebounding advantage to 42-26 for the game. The Lady Cats had 20 assists to just six turnovers. NNM finished with six assists and 13 turnovers. Lady Cats take the win 89-42.Johnson led all scorers with 28 points on 6-11 shooting from three. She also finished with a double-double, pulling down 10 rebounds. Abby Oliver finished with 16 points. Ashley Forrest chipped in 15 off the bench. Kelsie Cleeton led the rebounding column with 11. She also dished out a team high five assists. College of the Ozarks Lady Cats will play Northern New Mexico again tomorrow at 2:00 (CST) and will be back on the road on Tuesday to Crowley’s Ridge College. Tip-off is 5:00.
