Photo: Larry Plumlee College of the Ozarks women’s basketball traveled to Paragould, AR, for an A.I.I. conference matchup with Crowley’s Ridge College. C of O jumped out to a 30-6 first quarter lead and never looked back. The Lady Cats continued with a dominating second quarter, outscoring the Pioneers 24-10, for a 54-16 halftime lead. All-Americans Cass Johnson and Kelsie Cleeton scored 17 and 16 first-half points, respectively. C of O shot 55% from the field and 56% from three, while holding CRC to just 26% FG and 18% 3FG. The Lady Cats held a 21-15 rebounding advantage and forced 18 turnovers. They also dished out 14 assists and turned the ball over just four times. C of O equaled their first-quarter output with 30 third-quarter points and held CRC to just ten points. Both teams played evenly in the fourth tallying 14 points each, for a 98-40 final. C of O finished with 54% shooting from the field and 48% from three. Crowley’s Ridge shot 28% for the game and 19% from three. The Lady Cats outrebounded the Pioneers 49-28. CRC had seven assists and 25 turnovers, while C of O contributed 22 assists and turned the ball over 14 times. Cass Johnson led all scorers with 28 points. Kelsie Cleeton added another double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Abby Oliver finished with 18. Madi Brethower hauled in 11 rebounds. Cleeton also led with five assists and seven steals. All C of O players appeared and scored in the game. C of O will finish the 2018-19 regular season with three home games; the first against Haskell on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
