Bobcats Face Haskell in A.I.I. Conference Championship Opening Round

Feb 21, 2019

College of the Ozarks Bobcats are the #4 seed in this weekend’s A.I.I. Men’s Basketball Conference Championship tournament, being hosted by Lincoln College (Ill.).  The tournament features eight teams, with Indiana University Northwest claiming the top seed.

The Bobcats have posted a 20-win regular season against nine losses.  They have won their last four games, capturing wins from Crowley’s Ridge, Haskell, Nebraska Christian, and Lincoln Christian.  Their conference record stands at 7-4.

Over the season, the Bobcats have seen Brandt Cochran and Ethan Davidson receive A.I.I. and NCCAA Player of the Week honors.  The Cats currently rank #1 as a team in the NAIA DII Top Ten Stats in Assists per Game (18.72) and 3-Point Field Goal Percentage (44.7).  They also rank in the Top 10 in seven additional statistical categories.  Heath Carmichael, Brandt Cochran, and Ethan Davidson all find themselves in the NAIA DII Top Ten Stats in multiple categories.

The Cats’ first game will be on Friday at 5:30 PM vs. the #5 seed, Haskell Indian Nations University.  While the Bobcats have bested Haskell in their two matchups this season, they do not enter the game lightly, as CofO/Haskell matchups are always tightly contested.
