College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats picked up a big win in their final game of the regular season on Tuesday evening. While on the road in Bolivar, Mo., the Lady Cats defeated NCAA DII Southwest Baptist University, 3-1 (20-25, 26-24, 25-22, 27-25).
The Lady Bobcats and SBU Bearcats battled throughout the evening, as evidenced by the scores in each set. Despite trailing on numerous occasions, the Lady Cats rallied to take the lead, and eventually claim three consecutive sets to capture the victory.
Lady Cat junior Ryley Thixton played a solid game, tallying 15 kills and 17 digs for yet another double-double to add to her extensive collection on the season. Maggie Plake led the team with 4 solo blocks and 2 block assists, while adding 13 kills at a .579 clip. Haley Stallings scooped 22 digs, and Izzy Gibbany snagged 15. Kaylee Larimer also posted double-digit stats in the kills column with 11 (.421).
Tonight’s victory is the Lady Cats’ fourth consecutive win, taking their record to 20-12 on the season.
C of O will spend the next several weeks continuing to work hard on the court in order to maintain their edge, as they prepare to host the NCCAA DI WVB National Championship on December 5-7.
