College of the Ozarks women’s basketball hosted Crowley’s Ridge College on Saturday evening in the final game of the CofO/A.I.I. Classic and cruised to a 106-42 victory.

The Lady Cats opened up with a 19-0 run, thanks in part to three treys by Abby Oliver, two treys by Cassidy Johnson, and some solid CofO defense.  The Lady Cats’ hot hand continued, as they shot an impressive 60% from the field to hold a 37-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Crowley’s Ridge and CofO each scored four points a piece to begin the second quarter before the Lady Cats put up 21 unanswered points to take a 49-point lead.  Pioneer Elly Burrell hit a three-pointer to break the Cats’ run, and teammate Bug Johnson tossed up a three-point shot from half court at the buzzer to close out the first half.

Ozarks’ Abby Oliver led all scorers in the half with 20 points.  Kelsie Cleeton pulled down 6 rebounds and dished 11 assists.   The Lady Cats hit 20-35 field goals (57.1%) for the half, going an amazing 13-19 (68.4%) from beyond the arc.

The second half featured more of the same, as CofO stretched their lead to as many as 73 points before cementing a 106-42 victory.

The Lady Cats were led by senior Cassidy Johnson with 25 points.  Joining her in double figures on the night were Abby Oliver (20), Aleksei Smith (12), Kelsie Cleeton (10), and Michelle Gabani (10).  Freshmen Annie Noah (Theodosia) and Michelle Gabani (Bolivar) followed close behind with nine points apiece.  Cleeton posted a triple-double, as she added 13 assists and 10 rebounds to her 10 points.  Johnson, Oliver, and Madi Brethower each nabbed two steals.   CofO’s bench scored 34 points and collected 20 of the team’s 48 rebounds.

Crowley’s Ridge was led by Elly Burrell, who scored 40% of her team’s points with 17.

Saturday’s win improves the Lady Bobcats’ record to 18-3.  The Lady Cats and Bobcats will head back on the road next week, as they play Lincoln Christian University (Ill.) on Tuesday and Haskell Indian Nations University (Kan.) on Saturday.
