College of the Ozarks volleyball sweeps both Williams Baptist University (Ark.) and Tabor College (Kan.) on Friday in the opening day of the Chick-fil-A Classic in Point Lookout, Mo. The wins improve the Lady Bobcats’ record to 6-6 on the season.
In their first match of the day, the Lady Bobcats faced Williams Baptist University and quickly tallied a 3-0 win over the Eagles, 25-11, 25-10, 25-9. The Lady Cats were led by Kaylan Smith (9 kills), Haley Stallings (6 aces, 13 digs), Rielly Wallace (28 assists), and Izzy Gibbany (13 digs).
In the evening match, the Lady Cats came out on fire, as they tallied a 13-0 lead to open the match. C of O went on to capture a 25-9 victory in set one. Set two found Tabor College recovering from the Cats’ early onslaught, and the two teams battled it out. After falling behind, CofO rallied to collect a 26-24 Lady Cat victory. C of O finished off the match with a 25-15 victory in the third set. Stat leaders for the Lady Bobcats featured Ryley Thixton with 16 kills and 12 digs, Kaylan Smith recording 6 blocks, and Rielly Wallace dishing 33 assists.
Day 2 of the Chick-fil-A Classic will feature seven games on Saturday, with game times at 9 and 11 a.m., as well as 1 and 3 p.m. The Lady Bobcats will play at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
