College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats ended their seven-game winning streak at the hands of NAIA #3 ranked Columbia College on the road Tuesday evening, but they quickly rebounded with a 3-0 win over Stephens College.
The Lady Bobcats battled closely with the Columbia Cougars in the first match of the evening, closing the gap more with each set. Unfortunately, the Cats were unable to capture a win, going 13-25, 16-25, 21-25. Stat leaders for the game featured Ryley Thixton and Alex Spears collecting 10 kills apiece, while Rielly Dobbs handed off 25 assists. Haley Stallings kept the defense alive, picking up 15 digs, and Spears contributed behind the line with 4 aces. Dobbs, Kaylee Larimer, Kayli Grant, and Maggie Plake each tallied 2 blocks.
The Lady Bobcats followed up with a victory over the Stephens College Stars, 25-13, 25-5, 25-22, pushing their season record to 12-4. Freshman outside hitter Wendy Smith made her collegiate debut, and many Lady Bobcats were able to make contributions to the stat chart. Stat leaders for game two included: Alex Spears-11 kills, Haley Stallings-13 digs, and Rielly Dobbs-28 assists, 4 blocks and 3 aces.
This Saturday, College of the Ozarks will continue their stretch of road games as they participate in the Friends University Tri-Match in Wichita, Kansas.
