Bobcats Fall Short on the Road at LCU

Jan 22, 2019

College of the Ozarks Men’s basketball matched up with Lincoln Christian on the road Tuesday, January 22, and fell just short of a victory.  The Red Lions picked up the win, 78-75.

The two teams played closely, but the Bobcats trailed the Red Lions 48-42 at the half.  While the Bobcats outscored LCU in the second half, the deficit from the first frame was too much to overcome, as C of O suffered a 78-75 loss.

Ethan Davidson led all scorers with 24 and also topped the charts in rebounds with 10 to collect another double-double on the season.  Heath Carmichael and Klay Barton each chipped in a dozen points each.  Brandt Cochran led all players swiping three steals.

Despite winning the turnover battle (10 v. 13) and nearly matching Lincoln Christian on the boards (28 for CofO and 30 for LCU), the Bobcats' struggle from beyond the arc proved problematic.  CofO mustered only seven three-points makes of 24 attempts (29%) whereas the Red Lions connected on 12 of 29 (41%) from long distance.  Overall, the Cats shot 48.4% from the field compared to LCU at an impressive 54.4%

The loss takes the Bobcats' record to 15-7 on the season.

C of O will travel to Lawrence, Kansas to face Haskell on Saturday (January 26) at 5 PM.  The Lady Cats will play the preceding game at 3 PM.
