The Lady Cats traveled to Paragould, Ark. on Tuesday to take on the Crowley's Ridge Pioneers in A.I.I. conference play. There was no doubt about the outcome, as the Lady Cats dominated their game against the Pioneers by a score of 88-25.
C of O women opened up strong, scoring 22 points in the first quarter on 10-17 (58.8%) shooting, while holding the Pioneers to only six (3-12). In the second quarter, the Lady Cats scored 24 and CRC put up 11 to give C of O a 46-17 first-half advantage. For the half, the Lady Cats shot 46.2% (18-39) from the field, while CRC managed to connect on only 7 of 24 shots (29.2%). In addition, C of O turned the ball over only four times compared to 12 by the Pioneers.
The second half saw the Lady Cats continue to play solid defense, holding the Pioneers to only four points in each quarter. Meanwhile, C of O put up 42 points to capture their 21st win of the season against just four losses.
The Lady Cats had five players score in double figures, led by Jordan Wersinger and Aleksei Smith with 13 apiece. Ashley Forrest, Abby Oliver, and Julie Stone each contributed 10 points. Harper Little, Michelle Gabani, Forrest, and Wersinger each hauled down seven rebounds. Stone nabbed three steals, and Kyra Hardesty handed off five assists. As a team, the Lady Cats shot 41.3% from the field, hit 9 three-pointers, and drained an impressive 13-14 from the free throw line. C of O out-rebounded the Pioneers by a margin of 59-25 and won the turnover battle with 11 versus 24 by CRC.
The Lady Cats will return to their home court on Thursday evening for a game against Cottey College. TIp-off is at 6:00 p.m.
