The College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats defeated the Bethany College Lady Swedes (Kan.) on day two of the Tabor College Classic, 74-64.

Momentum from yesterday’s big win carried over for the Lady Bobcats, as they quickly jumped out to a double-digit advantage in the first quarter.  Abby Oliver hit five of her first six shots to set the precedent, tallying 14 of her game-high 24 points.  In the second quarter, C of O continued the hot shooting to extend the lead to a 43-28 advantage.  For the half, C of O shot 16 for 22 (72.7%) from the field, including an amazing 7 for 9 (77.8%) from behind-the-arc.

To start the third quarter, Ashley Forrest turned a steal into a quick three to get the Lady Bobcats rolling again.  For the quarter, Forrest would connect on three makes from down town to stave off a Bethany run.    On the evening, Forrest swished 6 of 7 three-point shots, scoring a total of 20 points.

Beginning the fourth quarter, C of O led the Lady Swedes by 19.  However, Bethany put together a late run to trim the lead back to single digits.  With under two minutes to play, Forrest took over on the defensive end, squelching Bethany on three straight possessions by pulling down a pair of rebounds and recording a huge block.

For the game, C of O shot 23 for 41 (56.1%) from the field, including 11 for 18 (61.1%) from three-point land.  Perhaps most impressively, the Lady Bobcats held Bethany to 33% shooting from the field.  C of O also won the battle of the boards, 34-28.  The work on the defensive end help mitigate the uncharacteristically high 25 turnovers.  With the win, the Lady Bobcats improve to 4-1 on the season.
