Lady Bobcat Basketball 2019-20

College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcat basketball will open their 2019-2020 regular season at home on Friday, October 25th.

The Lady Cats will offer a unique start to their season by hosting a prestigious classic tournament.  The October 25-26 event will feature Concordia University (Neb.), the 2019 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Champions,  #2 Southeastern University (Fla.),  #5 C of O Lady Bobcats, and #15 Sterling College (Kan.).  Concordia will face off against Sterling on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and be followed by the Lady Cats versus Southeastern at 7:30 p.m.  On Saturday, October 26th, the teams who lost on Friday will play one another at 1:00 p.m., with Friday's winning teams playing at 3:00 p.m.  The four-game classic will provide fans with the opportunity to experience phenomenal matchups between some of the NAIA's best DII teams.

One week later on November 1, the Lady Bobcats will host the 2nd Annual Angela Mallonee Garbee Alumni Game.  The event will take place at 7:00 p.m.on Friday night of Homecoming Weekend and provide fans with an opportunity to see many former Lady Bobcats back in action on the court.  While admission is free, donations will be accepted.  All proceeds will go directly to the Angela Mallonee Garbee Scholarship Fund, which provides an annual scholarship to a graduating C of O physical education major of strong character and  exceptional work ethic, who desires to coach and demonstrates financial need.  The scholarship was initiated last year in memory of former Lady Bobcat Angela Mallonee, who lost her battle with brain cancer in 2018. Mallonee played alongside Coach Mullis for a season, and the two became good friends.

“Following her graduation from C of O,” stated Mullis, “Angela taught and coached at Crane High School.  Later in her professional career, Angela became an administrator at Christian Ministries Academy.  Angela began the basketball and volleyball programs at the school and coached the teams.  She coached with the same passion she had for life, emphasizing hard work, competitiveness, and character."

Both events will be held at the Keeter Gymnasium on the College's campus and are open to the public.  Admission to regular-season games is $5 for adults and $3 for students (kindergarten through high school).  Season passes to the men's and women's regular-season basketball games are available at the door on game day; $20 for an individual, $30 for a family.   Questions may be directed to the C of O Athletic Office at 417-690-2393.
