Kelsie Cleeton Receives Recognition from MO Sports Hall of Fame

Hearty congratulations go out to Lady Cat senior guard Kelsie Cleeton.

On Sunday, January 27th, Kelsie was recognized by the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame for her many accomplishments last season, which resulted in being named as a 2018 NAIA DII Women’s Basketball First-Team All-American.

Kelsie hails from Springfield, Mo. and is in her fourth season as a Lady Bobcat.  Each year of those years, fans have witnessed Kelsie stepping up her performance on the court.

Kelsie’s 2018 accomplishments leading to this recognition included, but were not limited to:

  • A.I.I. Player of the Week: 12/9/2017
  • NCCAA Player of the Week: 11/1/2017
  • 2017-18 A.I.I. Player of the Year
  • 2017-18 Defensive Player of the Year
  • 2017-18 A.I.I. 1st Team All-Conference
  • 2017-18: NCCAA DI WBB All-Region Five-Person Team
  • 2017-18: DII 1st Team All-American
  • 2017-18: WBCA 1st Team All-America
  • 13.8 PPG (FG: 49%, 3-pt: 37.3%, FT: 76%)
  • 374 total rebounds (11.3 per game)
  • 143 assists
  • 106 steals
  • 21 double-doubles (pts/reb)
  • Scored her 1,000th career point

This season has seen Kelsie continue to play a vital role in the Lady Bobcats’ success. She has achieved the milestone of collecting her 1,000th rebound, as well as breaking the Lady Cats’ record for career rebounds--a record of 1,134 that stood for 28 years. On the season, she has thus far tallied 323 points, 265 rebounds, 113 assists, and 63 steals.  Her career rebounding total stands at 1,184.
