Mandatory Day Off Policy
College of the Ozarks athletics is committed to providing our student athletes a day each week for the mind and body to rest from physical practice and competition. As a distinctly Christian institution, we will continue to designate Sundays as our mandatory day off each week.
In the event a Sunday must be used due to weather, game postponement/reschedule, or disruption, the respective sport’s head coach will designate an alternate day off in the immediate five days following the Sunday impacted.
Physical athletic activity (use of a ball, conditioning, lifting, hitting, throwing, running, drills, etc.) qualifies as a practice and may not coincide with a day off. Also, any required team fundraising events may not coincide with a day off.
Communication between student-athletes and coaches is permitted if initiated by the student athlete.
A travel day may be considered a day off so long as there is no review of game film or sport specific discussions.
Training on an individual basis (weight training and/or individual sport) is permitted.
Student athletes that believe this policy is being violated should contact the athletic director or senior woman administrator.
