Lady Cats Sweep Aggies in Regular Season Home Finale

Point Lookout, MO – On Homecoming day, the Lady Cats hosted the Aggies of Oklahoma Panhandle State University, looking to redeem a loss to Wayland Batist University the previous night.

The Lady Cats were the first to score, but the Aggies quickly responded. Kamryn Link recorded a kill to give the Lady Cats a 2-1 lead in the early going. A Brooklyn Crawford kill followed by a Mica Chadwell ace gave the Lady Cats a 5-2 lead, and Abby Chadwell joined in on the fun with a kill. The Aggies fought back with three straight points, but Bri Linehan ended their run with a kill. After the Aggies tied the set 7-7, Christa Duffel recorded back-to-back kills to produce a spark. Anna Howe then served an ace, and an extended rally ended with a Kamryn Link kill which forced the Aggies to take their first timeout. After a few Aggie points out of the timeout, Allison Findley came in for a kill and the Lady Cats led 12-10. A strong Bailey Chamberlain kill kept the Lady Cats ahead by two, but the Aggies worked hard to take the lead, 14-13.  Bailey Chamberlain then recorded another kill to give the Lady Cats some life and a Linehan kill tied the set at 15 apiece. A Brooklyn Crawford kill mixed in a back-and-forth battle found the Lady Cats trailing 17-18, and two more Aggie points forced a Lady Cat timeout. The Lady Cats scored immediately out of the huddle to cut the gap to  18-20. After a Brooklyn Crawford kill and a block from Bailey Chamberlain and Kamryn Link, the Lady Cats trailed 20-21. A Sophie Morris kill answered an Aggies point as this one appeared to be going down to the wire. Down 22-23 after another Bailey Chamberlain kill, Bri Linehan followed it up with a kill of her own to pull the Lady Cats even. The Aggies had to take their last timeout after the Lady Cats took the lead and brought up set point. After the timeout, Abby Chadwell ended the set, 25-23, with a kill.

Kills by Bailey Chamberlain and Bri Linehan gave the Lady Cats a 3-1 lead to open set two. A Bri Linehan kill put the Lady Cats up 4-2, but the Aggies quickly tied it up. After a couple Lady Cats points, thanks to kills by Brooklyn Crawford and Abby Chadwell, they had a commanding 8-4 lead. The Aggies took their first timeout to try and regroup. The timeout appeared to work, with the Aggies scoring four straight to tie the set. A Brooklyn Crawford block got the Lady Cats back on track. A Kamryn Link kill kept the Lady Cats up by one, now leading 10-9. Bailey Chamberlain added a kill to extend the lead to 12-9, and after a back-and-forth scoring streak, a Bri Linehan kill had the Lady Cats up 14-12. Another Bri Linehan kill and an Aggie attack error increased the Lady Cat lead to 16-13. Two straight Brooklyn Crawford kills extended the Lady Cat lead to 18-14, and the Aggies took their last timeout. Abby Chadwell recorded a kill out of the timeout, and Brooklyn Crawford quickly followed to put the Lady Cats up 20-15. Another Brooklyn Crawford kill kept the Lady Cat lead at five, and Kamryn Link posted a kill and an ace to come within two points of a set two win. Bri Linehan then added to the scoring with a kill before the Aggies went on a 3-0 run. With their lead dwindling, the Lady Cats called a timeout in search of just one more point. Bri Linehan ended the set with a kill and the Lady Cats took set two, 25-23.

The Aggies scored first in set three, but the Lady Cats quickly answered with a Bailey Chamberlain kill. Christa Duffel and Bri Linehan also joined in to each add a kill, giving the Lady Cats a 3-2 lead. Bailey Chamberlain and Bri Linehan teamed up for two consecutive blocks, extending the lead to 5-2. After a couple Aggie points, Bailey Chamberlain added another kill to stay ahead, 6-4. A trio of kills by Linehan and Crawford bumped the Ladt Cat lead to 9-7 and kills by Christa Duffel and Bri Linehan kill had the Lady Cats up 12-9. Linehan posted another kill to extend the Lady Cat lead to four, forcing an Aggies timeout. Kamryn Link posted a service ace and Bailey Chamberlain recorded a kill before another Linehan kill and an Aggie attack error capped a 7-2 Lady Cat run. After an Aggie point, back-to-back kills from Bri Linehan and Abby Chadwell put the Lady Cats up 19-12. Brooklyn Crawford joined in on the fun with a kill and the Lady Cats kept control of this set. Mica Chadwell posted a kill to extend the lead, and Kamryn Link added a kill as well to put the Lady Cats up by ten. Now up 24-13, the Lady Cats needed one to put the match away, but the Aggies continued to fight with three straight points. Kamryn Link however, ended the match with a kill as the Lady Cats took set three, 25-16.

Bri Linehan and Brooklyn Crawford both posted double digit kills, with 15 and 11, respectively. Kamryn Link led the team with 42 assists. Mica Chadwell and Emma Godwin both posted 17 digs, while Jocee Pettyjohn and Anna Howe posted 12 and 11, respectively.

The Lady Cats will travel to Langston, Oklahoma to face Langston University on Friday, November 8. The next time the Lady Cats will be in action at home will be during the NCCAA National Championship Tournament, taking place December 4-7.
