Bethany, OK - The Lady Cats traveled to Bethany, Oklahoma on Friday, October 11 to face the Eagles of Southwestern Christian University after two consecutive conference wins.

After giving up a service ace, the Lady Cats scored four straight, two of those points coming from kills by Bailey chamberlain and Bri Linehan. After kills from Linehan, Grace Hancock, Abby Chadwell, and Brooklyn Crawford (x3), the Lady Cats had a 10-5 lead. Three more Lady Cat kills and a couple Eagle errors put the Lady Cats up 14-8. The Lady Cats scored four straight thanks to two consecutive service aces from Anna Howe. Up 19-9, the Lady Cats would wrap this set up very quickly with a Bailey Chamberlain kill, a Christa Duffel kill, and four service aces from Mica Chadwell. The Lady Cats went on a dominant 10-1 scoring run to end the set, 25-9.

After a commanding victory in set 1, the Lady Cats looked to jump out on top early again. After taking the early lead 5-2, it looked like they were on pace to put together another strong set. Brooklyn Crawford and Abby Chadwell both recorded a kill to make the score 9-5. After two kills by Bailey Chamberlain, the Lady Cats were now up 14-7. After a few rallies, Bailey Chamberlain recorded a kill and Brooklyn Crawford tacked on two kills to keep their lead, with the score now at 17-11. The Eagles, however, fought back and after a 9-1 run, had their first lead of set two, up 20-18. The Lady Cats did not let the Eagles pull away, as kills by Abby Chadwell, Bailey Chamberlain, and Bri Linehan helped their team stay in it. Tied 24-24, a Bri Linehan kill and an Eagles set error gave the Lady Cats the win, 26-24.

The Lady Cats found themselves down 1-3 to start the set, but a 7-0 run gave them the 8-3 lead, highlighted by kills from Bailey Chamberlain, Bri Linehan, Brooklyn Crawford, and Mica Chadwell. After two kills by Brooklyn Crawford, the Lady Cats led 11-7. A Bailey Chamberlain kill and a Mica Chadwell kill had the Lady Cats looking for another big scoring run, but the Eagles fought the set back to 14-15. An Anna Howe service ace and two Bri Linehan kills kept the Lady Cats ahead, 18-17. The Lady Cats found themselves tied after losing a point, but two Brooklyn Crawford kills along with an Emma Godwin service ace put them up 21-18. A block by Bailey Chamberlain and Abby Chadwell, a Jocee Pettyjohn service ace, and another Chamberlain kill led the Lady Cats to the set three win, 25-20, and the match sweep.

Bailey Chamberlain and Brooklyn Crawford led the offense with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Kamryn Link added 16 assists and Maddie Michel provided 12. Mica Chadwell recorded 21 digs, and Maddie Michel followed with 8 of her own.

 

Oklahoma City, OK - After a clean sweep of the Eagles of Southwestern Christian University, the Lady Cats traveled to Oklahoma City University to face off with the Stars.

A Bailey Chamberlain kill began the offense for the Lady Cats, and they found themselves tied 5-5 to begin the set. A few Stars errors and a Brooklyn Crawford kill resulted in a four-point run, giving the Lady Cats the 9-5 lead. The Stars were forced to take their first timeout after being down 8-12. Out of the timeout, a Grace Hancock kill extended the Lady Cats’ lead, and Bailey Chamberlain added a kill to add to the total. A Kamryn Link ace had the Lady Cats up 15-10, but three straight OCU points kept them close. A Jocee Pettyjohn kill and two straight Bri Linehan kills kept the Lady Cats up 19-15, and a Christa Duffel kill and OCU set error led the Stars to take their last timeout while down 17-22. After the Stars scored a few straight, the Lady Cats took a timeout while up 23-20 to gather themselves. At set point, up 24-22, Bailey Chamberlain and Grace Hancock teamed up for a block to end the set.

A kill by Bri Linehan gave the Lady Cats the first point of the set, but the Stars quickly answered with four straight. Bailey Chamberlain recorded a kill, and Anna Howe recorded a kill followed by an ace to tie up the set. With the score at 5-5, Mica Chadwell recorded three straight aces to go up 8-5. The teams exchanged points, with kills from Christa Duffel, Brooklyn Crawford, Bailey Chamberlain, and Grace Hancock, leading to a 14-10 Lady Cat lead. Another Bailey Chamberlain kill and a Stars set error put the Lady Cats up 16-13. The Stars called a timeout trailing 16-19 in hopes of stopping the Lady Cat momentum, but Brooklyn Crawford and Bailey Chamberlain recorded kills to go up 22-18. A Lady Cats timeout was taken while up 22-19 as they looked to put away another close set. After a couple OCU mistakes, Brooklyn Crawford put an end to the set with a kill as the Lady Cats won 25-22.

After winning the first two sets, the Lady Cats looked to achieve another sweep. Again, a Bailey Chamberlain kill gave the Lady Cats the 1-0 lead, and after kills by Bri Linehan and Christa Duffel, the Lady Cats were up 4-3. A Maddie Michel ace added to the Lady Cat total, and kills by Brooklyn Crawford and Emma Godwin kept the Lady Cats ahead, 7-6. Grace Hancock recorded a kill as the Lady Cats led 8-7. A few OCU points were answered by another Grace Hancock kill and a Kamryn Link service ace to tie the set, 11-11. Bri Linehan and Bailey Chamberlain recorded a block to keep the score tied, but three straight OCU points forced the Lady Cats to take their first timeout, down 12-15. Out of the timeout, the Lady Cats continued to score but couldn’t seem to reduce their deficit, until down 15-20, two Grace Hancock kills and a Stars error forced an OCU timeout. A Bri Linehan kill out of the timeout put the Lady Cats to within one point, but the Stars pulled away as the Lady Cats lost a hard fought set three, 21-25.

The Lady Cats came out in set four with a 3-1 lead thanks to kills by Bri Linehan and Bailey Chamberlain. After going down 3-5, the Lady Cats scored five straight to take the lead again, this time at 8-5. A Christa Duffel kill and a Brooklyn Crawford kill, followed by some mistakes by the Stars, gave the Lady Cats a 12-8 lead. The Stars took their first timeout, looking to stay close. After the timeout, a Stars scoring run was ended by a Maddie Michel kill, keeping the Lady Cats ahead at 14-12. The Lady Cats gave up their lead until an Abby Chadwell kill tied it back up at 16-16. A Bri Linehan kill followed by two Bailey Chamberlain kills led the Stars to take their last timeout as the Lady Cats led 20-19. Brooklyn Crawford recorded another kill, but the Lady Cats took their first timeout after the Stars tied it up 21-21. An Abby Chadwell kill followed by an OCU kill led the Lady Cats to take another timeout in hopes of not letting this match go to five sets. Brooklyn Crawford and Bailey Chamberlain recorded kills to tie the set at 24-24, but the Stars pulled away with two straight as the Lady Cats lost set four, 24-26.

To begin the final set, the teams exchanged kills (Kamryn Link, Bailey Chamberlain, Bri Linehan, and Christa Duffel) as the score sat at 5-5. An OCU point was quickly answered by a Brooklyn Crawford block as they remained tied, 6-6. OCU went on a scoring run and the Lady Cats took their first timeout while down 7-10. Two consecutive Bailey Chamberlain blocks and a Stars error kept the Lady Cats close at 10-12, but another Stars point forced the Lady Cats to take their final timeout down 10-13. The Lady Cats looked to fight back into the set, but the Stars ended up taking the final set 15-11.

Brooklyn Crawford recorded her 1000th career kill in the match to add to her impressive resume. Bailey Chamberlain recorded 15 kills in the match, and Bri Linehan followed with 12 kills. Kamryn Link led the offense with 24 assists, and Maddie Michel added 12 of her own. Mica Chadwell led the team with 27 digs, while Kamryn Link recorded 19 and Emma Godwin contributed 12.
