Lady Cat Cross Country Takes First at Haskell Invitational; Bobcat, Bailey Receives CAC Honor

Lawrence, KS – The College of the Ozarks Cross Country teams made their way to Lawrence, Kansas over the weekend to compete in the Haskell Indian Nations University Invitation al meet. The Lady Cats, running in their first 6k event of the season, stood atop the podium at the end of the race. The Bobcats finished in seventh in the 8k event.

Emily Staal led the way for the Lady Cats and her time of 22:25.55 was good for second place overall in the event. Trinity Sadosky, fresh off her solid performance at the Chile Pepper Festival, turned in another top-ten finish (eighth place) with her time of 23:38.89. Rebecca Loya rounded out the top ten with her time of 23:45.78 and two more Lady Cats finished in the top 20. Keena Goze finished in 16th place with a time of 24:31.51 and Lauren Cowden finished in the top 20 with her time of 24:49.33. Sarah Alferink turned in a time of 25:09.72, Naomi Foskett crossed the line with a time of 27:44.68, Gracie Gatton recorded a time of 28:01.01, Gracie vestal recorded a 28:12.91 and Jaqui O’Harver rounded out the field with a time of 28:43.03. The Lady Cats overall time of 1:59:11 was good for the first-place finish as the Lady Cats look to build momentum heading into the post season meets.

The Bobcats were once again led by Tanner Bailey with his second-place finishing time of 25:49.25. Drew Rose turned in another solid performance with his time of 27:59.39, and Cole Chafin finished just behind him with a time of 28:38.84. Daniel Chupp recorded a time of 29:40.15, Alex Frizzell crossed the line at the 30:06.80 mark, Caleb Fewin finished with a time of 30:26.45 and Gabe Whitman and Hunter McKinney finished with times of 30:48.09 and 32:38.15 respectively.

Tanner Bailey’s second-place finish garnered him Continental Athletic Conference Runner of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.

The Bobcats and Lady Cats will compete in the St. Louis Fall Classic on October 21 as their final regular season meet. The Continental Athletic Conference meet will be held on Saturday, November 4 at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. The Bobcats will be competing to qualify for the NAIA National Championships which will be held November 17.
