Bailey, Damlo, Larimore Take Top Spots at Baker Invite

Following a solid performance at Harding University the week before, the Bobcat and Lady Bobcat Track teams boarded the bus for the Baker University Invitational in Baldwin City, Kansas. The teams were hoping to improve their times and distances and add to the list of national qualifiers with spots already secured.

The Bobcats recorded three first place finishers in the meet with Tanner Bailey taking the top spot on the podium in the 5000m run with a time of 15:52.37. Cody Damlo finished first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 17.78, and Chase Larimore claimed the top spot in the pole vault with a height of 14’0”. Caden Robertson became the latest national qualifier with a 6.40m (21’0” distance in the long jump. He joins Gavin Fletcher (Shot Put), Tanner Bailey (5000m), Chase Larimore (Pole Vault), and Dawson Heppner (Javelin) on the list of national qualifiers to date. 

The Bobcats had several other top 10 finishers at Baker with Caden Robertson and Cody Damlo finishing 5th (12.04) and 8th (12.30) respectively in the 100m, Maddox Nosari with a third place finish in the 110m Hurdles (18.30) and second in the 400m Hurdles (1:03.76), a sixth place finish for Drew Rose (11:30.14) in the 3000m Steeplechase, and Gavin Fletcher with a fourth place finish in the Shot Put with a distance of 13.69m (44’11”). The Bobcats had a host of top 20 finishes in the meet as well.

On the women’s side, the Lady Cats turned in solid performances and multiple top 20 results. Madison Inman finished 10th in the Javelin with a distance of 20.23m (66’4”) and Gracen Emerson (Long Jump – 3.89m), and Madelyn Walker (Shot Put – 7.76m) turned in 11th place finishes. Walker also finished in 14th place in the discus (21.05m) with teammates Praise Phillips and Madison Inman finishing in 15th and 16th place respectively. Phillips and Inman also finished just behind Walker in the Shot Put, in 12th and 13th place.

The Bobcats and Lady Cats will compete this weekend in Bolivar, Missouri at the Southwest Baptist University Invitational.
