With four double figure scorers and a double-digit rebounder, the Lady Cats dominated the visitors from Kansas Christian College Saturday, in one of the final two home contests of the season. Kayley Frank, Jordan Wersinger, Susanna Moran, and Avery Arnold each logged double figures in the scoring column, and Annie Noah dominated the glass once again to lead the Lady Cats to another lopsided victory.

The opening quarter showed signs of a highly contested battle as the two teams traded baskets in the early going. Taylor Rush scored to give the Lady Cats the early lead, but the Falcons responded quickly and took a 3-2 advantage. Jordan Wersinger put the Lady Cats on top with a jump shot at the 7:35 mark and Kayley Frank added to the lead a few seconds later with a three. Frank and Wersinger continued to provide the one-two punch for the Lady Cats and the defense held the Falcons in check. The duo propelled the Lady Cats to a 16-3 lead with 3:11 remaining in the quarter and Annie Noah and Katie Mayes scored to close out the period.

Holding a commanding 20-9 lead, Isabel Rohlfing scored to open the second quarter and Avery Arnold followed with a three to extend the Lady Cat advantage. The defensive effort matched the offense and the Falcons struggled to find the basket. The Lady Cat pressure continued on both sides of the ball and the lead continued to grow. Wersinger, Frank, and Rush took over the scoring duties again before Jada Henry and Annie Noah closed out the 26-8 second quarter.

Leading 46-17 to start the second half, the Lady Cats were focused on solid defense and offensive execution. Striving to work on the fundamental parts of the game, the Lady Cats continued to dominate. Blythe Benefield and Kayley Frank put the Lady Cats in the scoring column early in the third while the defense remained in lockdown mode. Utilizing the clock and executing offensively, the Lady Cat lead continued to climb and as time ran down in the third stanza, Moran, Arnold, Henry, and Rohlfing scored to increase the advantage to 69-24.

The primary challenges of the final 10 minutes would be focus, execution, and running the clock down. The Falcons opened the scoring, but Jada Henry quickly responded with a basket of her own. Susanna Moran added a basket and the Lady Cat lead continued to grow. The Falcons began to find some offensive rhythm, but the Lady Cats repeatedly answered. Moran and Isabel Rohlfing put points on the board before Avery Arnold finished off the game with a 7-4 run of her own to seal the 92-40 win.

The Lady Cats scorched the nets shooting 51.2% from the field, including 50% from three-point range in the final stanza. The Lady Cat defense also stepped up and held the Falcons to just 21.3% from the field. Kayley Frank led all scorers with 18 points, Jordan Wersinger added 17, Susanna Moran tacked on 14, and Avery Arnold contributed 12. Annie Noah recorded eight points and 12 rebounds in the win. Jada Henry added eight points, Isabel Rohlfing chipped in seven, Taylor Rush added four, and Blythe Benefield and Katie Mayes tacked on two points each.

The Lady Cats travel to Paragould, Arkansas for the Crowley’s Ridge Classic Friday and Saturday, February 3-4. Game time will be 5 PM both days as the Lady Cats take on Northern New Mexico College and the host, Crowley’s Ridge College.
