Oklahoma City – Felix Polanco of Wayland Baptist has been named the 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Year after leading the Pioneers to the conference regular season championship, as voted on by the league’s head coaches before the start of the conference tournament last week.

Brian Ereu of Science & Arts garnered the conference Pitcher of the Year honor, while Cristopher Munoz of Mid-America Christian earned the Newcomer of the Year award, with Kurt Ippolito of Central Christian garnering the Freshman of the Year award. Todd Weldon of Wayland Baptist claimed the Coach of the Year honor.

Polanco helped the Pioneers to a 39-17 overall record by finishing third in the league with a .434 batting average. Polanco led the conference with 86 hits and 21 doubles this season while hitting 16 home runs.

Ereu led the Drovers to the conference tournament championship and an overall record of 34-18 by leading the league with a 2.98 earned run average and in innings pitched with 91.1. Ereu also had 81 strikeouts for the season while having 10 wins on the campaign.

Munoz aided the Evangels to a second-place finish in the regular season with an overall record of 38-15 by having a .399 batting average with 64 hits and 54 runs scored. Munoz also was tied for fifth in the conference with 13 home runs.

Ippolito had an outstanding freshman season for Central Christian as he led the team with a .402 batting average while having a .820 slugging percentage. Ippolito also tied for fifth in the conference with 13 home runs.

Weldon paced the Pioneers to their first regular season title in program history with an overall record of 39-17 as Wayland Baptist finished in the runner-up spot at the conference tournament.
