Point Lookout, MO - The Baseball Bobcats returned home to Coach BobSmith Field for a mid-week double header against non-conference foe, Ecclesia College on Tuesday, April 8. While the Bobcats faught back from early deficits, the late inning efforts to come from behind fell short and the Bobcats dropped both games.

In game one of the mid-week doubleheader, the College of the Ozarks Bobcats were overcome by the Ecclesia Royals with a final score of 10-5. Despite a valiant late-inning effort, the Bobcats could not turn the tide against the Royals.

Key players for the Bobcats included Hunter Lewis, Charlie Parker, Trey Riley, Alex Nimmo, and Cole Hilton, all of whom contributed runs in a bid to narrow the margin. Hunter Lewis hit a solo home run in the first, but the Bobcat offense could not string any more together until late in the game. Cole Hilton's performance was particularly noteworthy; he delivered a pinch-hit 3-run home run during the 7th inning. His effort alongside Charlie Parker, who also sent the ball out of the park, highlighted a fleeting moment of potential comeback with back-to-back home runs.

Starting on the mound for the Bobcats was George Reynolds, who faced a tough opponent lineup. The Royals' aggressive gameplay established an early lead that proved challenging to overcome, despite the Bobcats' spirited rally in the seventh inning.

In game two of the doubleheader, the Bobcats' late inning heroics fell just short, as the game concluded with a narrow defeat of 5-4 in favor of Ecclesia.

Thought the Bobcats were held scoreless in the first three innings, Charlie Parker, Hunter Lewis, Craig Busse, Jackson Howser, and Alex Nimmo all scored runs late in the game. Craig Busse hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to get the Cats on the board. Down 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Charlie Parker hit a sacrifice fly to score Jackson Howser, and Alex Nimmo scored on a passed ball. Unfortunately, with runners in scoring position, the Cats could not bring in another run to tie the game.

Grant Clark provided 2.2 innings in his start, and Nicolas Alexander followed in relief, providing 4.1 innings for the Cats, striking out 6 in that time.

This doubleheader shifted the Bobcats' season record to 18-20. The Cats will face the Wayland Baptist University Pioneers this weekend, April 11th and 12th. Friday, the Cats will honor first responders as part of first responder appreciation day. Saturday, the team will honor their seniors as part of Senior Day.
