C of O vs Mission – Game 1

Ozark, MO - In a non-conference doubleheader at Ozark Mountain Sports Complex, the College of the Ozarks Bobcats took the opening game over the Mission University Patriots with a final score of 5-3 on Tuesday.

Leading the Bobcat charge, Charlie Parker, Aaron Fisher, and Brody Baumann played pivotal roles by scoring the crucial runs. Parker and Fisher each contributed two runs, while Baumann added one. Additionally, notable batting performances included Parker’s 2-4 at the plate with a double, to propel the Cats to the win.

Brody Tyler was the standout of the game, driving in three runs. His RBI double in the opener and a two-run single in the seventh inning were decisive in securing the win for the Bobcats. Craig Busse and Keegan Stone also contributed to the score sheet with an RBI each, further cementing the team's offense.

Starting pitcher George Reynolds delivered a strong performance on the mound, setting the pace for the Bobcats’ defensive stability throughout the contest.

In the nightcap, the Bobcats fell in a close one, 2-0.

The game began with the Cats threatening as Kyle Beeman stole second base in the opening frame, helping set an aggressive tone for the Bobcats. The Cats were unable to capitalize, and the Patriots responded strongly in the following innings. Landon Richards of Mission University doubled in the fifth inning, driving in Tate Wheeler to notch the first run of the event. Dylon Blehm further widened the gap with a pinch-hit double in the sixth inning, bringing Carter Vienhage to score the final and decisive run.

Despite the loss, Bobcats' starting pitcher Brody Tyler showed commendable effort on the mound, attempting to hold off the Patriots' advances. The Bobcats continue to build toward the post season and look to improve each time out.

As the Bobcats looks ahead, they prepare to host the University of Science & Arts on Friday and Saturday at Coach Bob Smith Field. Game times are 12:00 and 2:00 Friday, with a single nine-inning game at 12:00 on Saturday.
