Senior Bekah Goodwin and freshman Kate Voss had the opportunity to experience tournament play at the collegiate level on September 5-6 in the Southwestern Christian University Invitational at Lake Hefner Golf Club in Oklahoma City.
With their teammates and a group of Goodwin's family members cheering them on, Goodwin and Voss were nervous, but excited, to open up the season for the team. Goodwin shot an 84 in both rounds earning her a tie for 15th place out of 43 golfers. She parred 13 holes and was second-best overall in birdies with 4. Goodwin ranked in the top 10 in par 4 scoring with a 4.55 average.
Voss posted a 94 on Tuesday, but came back with an 85 on Wednesday to tie for 25th. She also had a birdie and placed in the top 22 for par 5 scoring with a 5.63.
The next tournament for the ladies, in which the team’s top 5 golfers plan to play, will be held on October 2 & 3 when they travel to the Columbia College Invitational at Columbia Country Club.
