College of the Ozarks is pleased to be adding men’s and women’s golf to their athletic program, beginning with the 2017-2018 season.
Dean of Sports, Recreation and Events Chris Larsen has been named as the head coach, and he is hard at work developing the program for its inaugural season. He has secured the impressive Buffalo Ridge Golf Course as the team’s home course, and is developing practice areas on campus, gauging student interest, and recruiting future players.
A recent informational meeting resulted in 21 current students expressing interest in becoming prospective team members. These students will work with Coach Larsen throughout the current school year in hopes of adding their names to the College’s inaugural golf roster for the 2017-18 season.
“We are excited to provide this opportunity for our students to participate in collegiate golf competition,” said Larsen. “As faculty members share knowledge to train students in their major fields, and work supervisors teach our students about the value of hard work, coaches at College of the Ozarks are provided the opportunity to teach many core values through our athletic programs such as integrity, responsibility, teamwork and respect. The addition of golf, a life-long sport that relies heavily on personal integrity, also provides our students with skills and values that can benefit them in their personal and professional lives.”
Current and prospective students interested in participating in this program should complete the golf questionnaire located on the sidebar.
