The Lady Bobcats participated for the first time as a team in a national championship meet, as they ran in the NCCAA National Cross Country Championship on Saturday, November 12th.
The women posted a team time of 1:47:41.66 in their 5K race at Choctaw Trails in Jackson, Mississippi, which earned them 11th place out of 14 teams. Dallas Baptist and Oklahoma Baptist were the top two teams in the race with times posted in the 1:30's.
Torri Holder, who has been the team's leader throughout the season, garnered 17th place among the 99 runners competing, and narrowly missed achieving All-American status. Holder ran 18:57.41 for her 5K time, completing her run about one minute behind the first place finisher. Following in 48th place was Melanie Hall (20:29.57), 49th place - Kayla Reed (20:30.83), 85th - Kayla Cooper (22:45.58), 96th - Rosemary Sanders (24:58.27), and 97th - Naomi Murrell (25:10.44).
The event provided each of the runners with a great experience to cap off their 2016 season. Congratulations to all of our Lady Bobcat cross country runners!
