Torri Holder and Kayla Reed each qualified during the A.I.I. Conference Cross Country meet to compete in the NAIA National Cross Country Championship being held in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 21st.
The women's 5K event featured 321 runners from the top NAIA programs across the nation. With the College's program only in its second year, Coach Woods was excited to see four of his runners qualify for nationals--two women and two men. He noted the team set a goal to finish in the top third, and sophomore Torri Holder met that goal, finishing in 100th place with a time of 19:02.7. Freshman Kayla Reed completed her run in 20:17.2 (255th place).
Woods commented, "I’m very happy with our athlete’s success this season, We are a young team, but saw gradual improvements all season long and had great team finishes at our conference meet. The athletes' hard work and determination paid off with an opportunity to compete at the national level.”
Congratulations to Torri Holder and Kayla Reed on an excellent season.
