The College of the Ozarks Men's and Women's Cross Country teams traveled to Joplin, Missouri on Saturday, September 19, to participate in the Southern Stampede Cross Country Invitational hosted by Missouri Southern University. First place was captured by the Kansas Wesleyan University men and Hastings College women in the team competition.
Lady Bobcat sophomore Torri Holder finished her 5K run in 19:07.19, taking 7th place out of 145 individual runners. Holder continues to lead the Bobcat squad this season as she did in 2014. The team’s performance in the Stampede placed them 15 out of 20 with a time of 1:49:03. This week’s top 5 Lady Cat runners included: Holder, Kayla Reed (63rd, 20:42.65), Megan Cooper (112th, 22:49.19), Lindsay Heun (114th, 22:53.59) and Sarah Jenkins (122nd, 23:30.39).
The men’s team, running an 8K, placed 11 out of 16 with a team time of 2:22:37. Leading the men were: Chris Mitchell (47th of 142, 27:50.16), Dameon Davis (60th, 28:14.84), Jeremy Wood (65th, 28:21.59), Loyal Carpenter (78th, 28:45.60) and Austin Wenger (92nd, 29:25.01).
The Bobcats will have a weekend of rest before they return to competition at the Chili Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas on October 3rd.
