The #7 NAIA DII Lady Bobcats of College of the Ozarks went 2-0 this weekend in the Coke Classic and advanced their record to 9-1 on the season.
On Saturday, the Lady Cats faced Division I John Brown University (Ark.) and opened up with a sluggish start offensively. The Cats were an unusual 25% from the field in the first half, hitting none of their 11 three-point attempts, and trailed John Brown heading into the half 18-26. The Lady Cats returned to the court in the third quarter with renewed vigor and proceeded to outscore JBU 16-5 to take a 34-31 lead into the 4th and finish up with a 49-55 victory.
The Lady Cats were led by Lakin Simmerman with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and Cass Johnson with 10 points, 6 rebounds. Kelsie Cleeton just missed another double-double night with 9 points, a game-leading 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
The Cats will take a break over Thanksgiving and return to their home court on Tuesday, November 29th against Southwestern College, 7 p.m.
