Congratulations go out to Madison Wells, junior forward for the Lady Bobcats, who was named this week as a 2016-17 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete!
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Monday that 286 Division II women’s basketball student-athletes have been named 2016-17 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes. In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
It is no small accomplishment to be named as an NAIA Scholar Athlete, particularly at College of the Ozarks. Athletes not only balance their studies with the obligations of their sports (practice, travel, and game performance), but C of O athletes also are held to the same standards as their peers to perform to the best of their abilities in a 15-hour per week on-campus work assignment.
Great job, Madison!
