This evening, in the first of four combined games against Evangel University men's and women's teams, the Lady 'Cats took the first game of the Highway 65 Series Cup sponsored by Rib Crib. The Lady ‘Cats, who won by a score of 75-64, were led on offense by Sophomore Forward Brandy Uchtman with 24 points and Senior Guard Emily Walker with 23. Uchtman was also a major contributor on the defensive side, along with Kayla Kepler, both of whom collected seven rebounds apiece. The first half saw the Lady ‘Cats turn the ball over ten times, but they settled down in the second half and reduced the turnovers to five. The Crusaders were led by Emily Akins with 21 points, while Jamera Sandifer and Bailey Irvine added 13 and 12 respectively. Akins also provided her team with four steals and five rebounds. The Lady 'Cats will head to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, this weekend to participate in the John Brown University Classic. Their games are scheduled for 6 PM Friday versus Tabor College and 1 PM Saturday versus Kansas Wesleyan University.
