The Lady Bobcats went on the road this weekend holding a slim lead atop the MCAC. Despite a loss to College of St. Mary on Friday evening, the Lady 'Cats retained a spot at the top, though it is now shared with Oklahoma Wesleyan. The women return home to close out their regular season the weekend of Feb. 20-21, during which time they will have the opportunity to reclaim sole possession of first place as they face off against Oklahoma Wesleyan and Haskell Universities. Bobcat fans are encouraged to come out to the "K" to cheer on the Bobcats and Lady Bobcats as they finish up their regular season and honor their seniors next weekend.
Following is a recap of this weekend's contests:
The #18 Lady Bobcats were in Omaha, NE to face conference foe and 16th ranked College of St Mary Friday night. Both teams struggled from the field in the first half and CofO went into the half trailing 28-22 after leading by as many as 5. The Lady Cats came out cold to begin the second half and got down by as many 17 before rallying to get to within 7 with 2 minutes remaining. The rally fell short as St. Mary connected on free throws down the stretch. CofO was led in scoring by Kayla Kepler with 18 and Hannah Wisdom with 17. The Lady Cats were out rebounded 44-38.
On Saturday afternoon, the Lady Cats bounced back for victory number 19 on the season at Waldorf College, 86-50. Ozarks jumped out to 38-18 halftime lead over the Lady Warriors and never looked back. It was another balanced scoring attack led by Tanner Merriman with 15, followed by Maison Bovard with 12, and Brandy Uchtman and Jordan Graham with 10 each. Kayla Kepler and Uchtman led the team with 9 rebounds. Kepler also had 6 assists. The Lady Cats shot 49% from the field while holding Waldorf to 26%. Ozarks also held a sizable rebounding margin 49-38.
The Lady Cats are now 19-7 on the season.
