Lady Cats Post a Big Opening Round Win in National Championship

Kayla KeplerOn Thursday evening, the Lady Bobcats toppled Siena Heights University by a score of 88-69 in the opening round of the NAIA DII Women’s Basketball National Championship being held in Sioux City, Iowa. 

The Lady Cats were led by Kayla Kepler (21 points, 4 steals, 6 assists) and Hannah Wisdom (18 points, 4 assists, 6 rebounds), while Lady Cats’ McMenamy, Merriman & Uchtman each posted 10 points.  Maggie McMenamy also pulled down 10 rebounds to garner her third double-double of the season.  The Lady Cats hit 28-of-66 field goal attempts (42.4%) and drained 78% of their 36 free throws.  In addition, they out-rebounded Siena Heights 50-38. 

The Lady Cats will play St. Xavier (30-3, the #1 seed in their bracket) on Friday night in round 2 of the national championship.  Their game will begin at approximately 8:45 PM and can be heard on KRZK radio.
